John discusses C.S. Lewis’ “trilemma” of “Liar, Lunatic, or Lord” and what it means for our understanding of Jesus and God. He also looks at the more modern objection of “legend” surrounding Christ’s divinity and how these objections are often misleading at best.

This week, John looks at the Law of Human Nature, a concept C.S. Lewis bases in the fact that all human beings yearn for purpose and meaning, yearn to be more than they actually are. Why do we believe in the concepts of right and wrong, fairness, and goodness? Are these just absurd quirks of our existence, or are they proof that we are created for something more?

Beaconnet.org makes use of Google Calendar for scheduling and displaying up and coming events. This allows us to present you with a lot of ways to use and display calendar information. You can even automatically feed Beacon events into your Calendar!

Adding the Beacon Calendar Events to Your Personal Calendar

If you go to the calendar page, you will see several buttons available to you:

These buttons, (in order) allow you to do the following:

“Add to Google Calendar” — you can click on this button and add the Beacon Calendar to your personal Google Calendar account. Now events will automatically appear in your Google Calendar every time you open your Google Calendar.

“XML” — subscribe to the Beacon calendar events as an RSS feed or to include it into RSS feed capable calendar programs.

“ICAL” — add the Calendar to your iCalendar-capable calendar program. This includes Apple’s iCal and Mozilla Thunderbird and Lightning. Note that Outlook support for the iCalendar protocol is very poor. There is a plugin to enable iCalendar support in Outlook 2003/2007, but no one at Beaconnet.org can help you install or support that plugin (sorry, you are on your own!).

Click on the button that is appropriate for the software you use for calendaring. Depending on the software, you should see the Beacon calendar almost immediately. When new events are posted to the Calendar, you should see them automatically (but double check your settings to be sure!).

PLEASE NOTE: Adding the iCal link to your calendar program may not set it up to automatically update the calendar from Beacon. Be sure your edit the properties for the Beacon calendar once it is in your program and set it to auto-refresh. This will keep you up to date on the latest Beacon events!

I Need To Add an Event

Currently, all calendar events go through specific people. This is because we want to be sure we cut down on duplication and because we often need a central contact for event planning.

You can contact any of the following people at church on Sunday:

Brenda Fraher

Annelise Fair

Aimee Mury

Or you can send us an email at our contacts page. Please be sure to include all the details of the event.

Still Having Problems?

If you are still having problems, take a look at our contacts page. Please feel free to submit a support question, and someone will get back to you as soon as they can!
