Just a reminder that January 25th (next Sunday) will be our first quarterly CORE meeting of 2009. This meeting is for those who are members of Beacon Community Church. CORE meetings allow us to stay informed about the various ministries of the church and to hear from the elders about our direction and mission.

The CORE meeting will start after the morning service on Sunday. Lunch will be provided.

Once again, we’re calling a snow day. As reluctant as I am to do so, I simply had to ask, “What’s the wise thing to do?” Given the official Winter Storm Warning, the choice was (relatively) easy. Many people with whom I’ve spoken this morning haven’t even seen plows yet.

This Sunday was our scheduled Kid Connection service. The plan at this point is to move Kid Connection to next week and then continue our series “Foolproof” the week after.

For the first time since in as long as I can remember, we are canceling service because of snow twice in one season! Word on the street is that even some of the major secondary roads are still not adequately plowed and we have an official Winter Storm Warning until noon today. So I asked myself, “What’s the wise thing to do?” I was going to teach about three different kinds of fools this morning and if I had not called off service, I ran the risk of being #2.
