Subversive Freedom

How does one balance the freedom of the gospel with some of the Bible’s admonitions to submit? John examines Colossians 3:18-4:1 along with parallel passages from Ephesians to explain a concept of freedom that is many ways subversive. This week we continue our study of Colossians, examining Paul’s defense of the truth of the gospel. Instead of focusing on the lies being told, Paul choose to only focus on the truth being denied or misrepresented. Paul’s reasons were simple: lies come and go, shift and change, but the truth is always the same. John looks at some ways we can become experts in recognizing God’s truth in a world full of distortions, misrepresentations, and ulterior motives.
